What do children want?
(July 13 2005 8:04:17 AM PDT)
|
Children want to be heard, treated fairly, and most of all, be loved.
How many times have we watched movies where a problematic child complained frustratingly that "Nobody ever listen to me!" or that "Even when you are around, you are not really here!"? Well, I can connect to that from my childhood days.
Everyone had been a child before. Learn from your own childhood experience. Put yourself in your children's shoes.
Listen to your children. Listen to their thoughts and understand their feelings and perception of things. Be gentle with them and show them affectionately that you care. Give them periodic hugs. Spend time with them. Be there for them to help them go thru the bad times - and they will appreciate it more than anything money can buy for them.
You won't regret spending time here but you will regret not doing so somewhere in the future.
We all want the best for our little loved ones. They deserve to grow up in a conducive, harmonious and happy environment. So, are you creating such an environment at home for your children?
If the answer is no, it is still not too late. Redirect your energy, make time and act now!
Don't lose the opportunity of growing up with your children. Always be there for them when they need you. And be a guiding beacon in their journey to adulthood. Be there always!
After all, they are our hopes for the future.
